How I Want To Live My Life
I had an idea of listing those personal/professional qualities that I most want to exhibit on a daily basis.
Here are some examples on my list that I ask myself at the end of the day.
Today:
1) Did you make good choices?
2) Did you tell someone you loved them?
3) Did you express appreciation to others?
4) Did you eat in a healthy way?
5) Did you exercise?
6) Did you show special care to Angel, Spirit and Bella (my animals)?
7) Did you do some spiritual practice?
Did you appreciate nature?
9) Did you make a difference for anyone?
10) Were you happy with your personal/professional/spiritual balance?
11) Did you think with your heart?
12) Were you kind?
13) Did you feel good – mentally, emotionally, spiritually?
As you consider which questions will get at your ‘ideal’ qualities of how you want to live your life, try adding one that has to do with a behavioral change you believe will make a difference. For example, my behavioral change focus right now is ‘were you appropriate in action/non-action’? In order to see the impact my positive intentions can have and understanding when it is better to wait or not to act or speak at all, I want to be more conscious about my action and non-action.
So what would your list look like?
Think about it – what if you developed the qualities of how you want to live your life and then checked in daily to see how closely you were aligned with your ideal vision? As Claude Bristol says “Undoubtedly, we become what we envisage.”
It’s not about being perfect – many of us will have “blunders and absurdities” that creep in. But tomorrow is a new day and we can “begin it well and serenely.”
I hope you’ll experiment with this – it has helped keep me focused during the day on what matters how I live my life…and what doesn’t. Give it a few days, or a week if you can. Then let me know how it goes for you….
