Hypnotherapy/Hypnosis Can Help You Lose Weight

I recently held a 4 week weight loss class I taught with hypnosis and, optional, Isagenix is over and the results were great. Everyone lost weight, the most was 15 pounds with the combination of hypnosis and Isagenix and everyone lost their interest in sodas, sugary anything and other unhealthy foods. Impressive. I added other things to the class like tapping and Myers Briggs assessment. Great group of people…. already looking forward to the fall class.

Gifts From The Heart That Make A Difference

Gifts From The Heart That Make A DifferenceAt this time of year when all emotions seem to be heightened for many of us, certainly for me, I am assessing what really matters to me – and what really doesn’t.

One thing that continues to matter to me is how I can make a difference…. one of those ways that speaks to my heart and to the heart of my clients is hypnosis.

In the last month, here are some highlights: a weight loss class with both Hypnosis and Isagenix (a fat loss/detox/cleanse product). One person lost 11 pounds in a month using just hypnosis and in addition she, and others in the class, reported no more cravings, calmer, happier, more focused.

And I have loved working with two teenagers: one is a skin picker who no longer, after just two sessions, picks at her face and her complexion is beautiful. And another, who is bussed from a private school to see me, couldn’t stop eating sweets even after she knew she was full. After one session, she had no more cravings except for chocolate and after two sessions, even that craving was gone.

My highest value (I discovered after a 4 hour session) is making a difference. I feel blessed that hypnosis has come into my life as a way to do that.

A question: what are the gifts you have this holiday season where you can make a difference? We all have them – and that means you. What are you doing about yours? How can you brighten the lives of others… and therefore yours… by giving them? I’d love to hear.

Life on Hilton Head

It’s hard to believe I just have 3 more weeks before heading back to Vermont.  It has been wonderful here in Hilton Head which now feels like a second home, and I know both Bella, my little Maltese therapy dog, and I will have withdrawal pains.  It has been 3 months of new experiences, new friends as well as a continuation of experiences and friendships from last year.  I’m glad to be able to spend quality time with my brother who is in poor health, and my sister in law, who live here year round.

The workshop I gave on Hypnosis: Accessing Your Body’s Wisdom  included hypnotizing 25 people for Life Long Learning, something I had never done before.  But it went well and  has opened many doors – new clients,  interesting people – and  Living Your Purpose – On Purpose, a workshop that because of the Hypnosis experience, a class was created that had 14 people sign up with a waiting list for next year.

A word about hypnosis: what is great  is that you can do hypnosis in person or you can do it over the phone, just like Coaching.  My latest three are weight loss, alcohol addiction, both in person, and Accessing the Wisdom of Your Soul by phone, which was “profound” for the person long distance.  I love coaching and adding hypnosis adds a great deal of depth.

My chiropractor/kineseologist/nutritionist son, Chris, who  teaches nutrition classes with an emphasis on Isagenix, a fabulous fat loss, cleanse and detox program,  sent me an article on hypnosis from the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996 that stated adding hypnosis to weight loss program  increases results by 97% and post treatment by 146%.

Hypnosis bypasses the Conscious mind, which has all the reasons why something won’t work,  to the Subconscious mind  which says “Yes” to any message we give it, and combining the Subconscious with the Superconscious mind, which always wants our highest good, gives very impressive results.

So the combination of  meaningful work,  social time with kindred spirits, daily beach walks is one that sure has worked for me this winter.

But the time is coming that my thoughts are heading towards home – family and friends and a continuation of meaningful work that I can do wherever I am.  I am realizing more and more that it’s not about outer circumstances as it is in appreciating what life has to offer in the moment – and giving gratitude.

What are you grateful for?

Announcing My Talk/Workshop On Hypnosis

On February 15th from 1:30 – 3:30, in Hilton Head, S.C., I’m giving a talk/workshop on Hypnosis- the history, what hypnosis is and what it is not.   I’ll share experiences and results, some of which are amazing to me.  And I’ll hypnotize the group on Reducing  Stress.  This session is part of their Life Long Learning series and I’m delighted for this opportunity.  I am loving hypnotherapy and the results people are having on such a deep level – and it can be done in person or on the phone or skype.

Susan Hastings Attends Worldwide Super-Conference For Professional Hypnotists

Leading Edge Program Focused on Value of Hypnosis in Improving Everyday Life for Millions of People

Marlborough, MA.   From helping people overcome their fears in honing personal development skills and goal achievement to assisting with pain management, hypnosis has long been a valid tool for millions of people.  With a theme of Anchoring Your Future, the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH.net) held its 23rd annual educational conference and convention at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel and Trade Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts.  Attending this year’s event was Susan Hastings of Creative Communications Center in Norwich, Vermont.  Leading experts from around the globe shared the latest insights and techniques to help professional consulting hypnotists and hypnotherapists bring the value of hypnosis to several areas of health and wellness fields.

Susan became a Certified Hypnotherapist by attending additional intensive training that preceded the convention.  “This was a fantastic experience”,  Susan said.  ” In addition to getting my Hypnotherapist Certification, the networking with peers around the world was tremendous, and the workshops presented a wealth of insight and skill building that I know will give great value to my clients.”

“This is the world’s super conference for professional hypnotists.  All told there were about 1400 hypnotists in town for the plethora of intensive educational workshops,” said Dr. Dwight Damon, President and Founder of the National Guild of Hypnotists.  Our annual convention ..had multiple tracks for any number of disciplines in the profession.”  As Dr. Damon explains, “Our training programs are conducted by award winning speakers, published authors, and other professional hypnotists from around the world.  Many of the speakers were from outside the United States.  We may be the National Guild of Hypnotists, but this is truly an international event.”

While the attendees represent many countries, varied hypnosis skill levels, and a diversity of occupations, they were united in their goal of using hypnosis as a valuable tool for helping others.  Some of the course topics included certifications in: stress management; pain management; hypno-oncology; sleep improvement; new answers for diabetics; and helping people help themselves with hypnosis.

Dr. Dwight Damon continued, “Even though the NGH Convention is a time for intensive study and skill development, we like to remind people that the event is frequently described as ‘the world’s largest and friendliest professional hypnotism conference.’  The three days at NGH …are an incredible time for networking for the world’s top hypnotists.  People leave the NGH Convention with new professional relationships, new mentors and most importantly, new friends.”

Hypnotism is an accepted and recognized treatment option regularly utilized by many health care workers, counselors and other mental healtho professionals.  Hypnosis provides a valuable tool for enhancing an individual’s ability to deal with pain or stress, or to assist in diminishing undesirable behavior patterns.  As the use of hypnotism increases, so does the demand for those who are trained to provide it.

Celebrating 60 years of service worldwide, the Guild is also celebrating its 23rd Convention Anniversary.  The largest and oldest organization of its kind, the National Guild of Hypnotists provides a wide range of support and professional development services for hypnotists and also to continue its leadership role in expanding the profession of a certified consulting hypnotists.
